Lisa Koberg grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. Lisa took her first formal art class in High School where she won recognition for works in watercolor. Her artistic training continued through college at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, but her Father insisted she get a degree in something other than art. She pursued a Business Degree and took as many elective art classes as her schedule would allow. She graduated with a BSBA in Marketing Management and minor in Art Studio in 1993.
After college she gained a position as a Product Coordinating Assistant at Dillard’s Corporate Offices. In that position she specialized in store branded merchandise. Being dissatisfied with the prints coming in and designs being purchased form the contract “design houses”, she decided to “fix” them herself by hand. Getting to put her love of art into clothing and seeing them sell all over the nation was incredible. Her unique ability to transfer her vision to paper led to a promotion and the official title of Fashion Designer. Lisa was the only designer to use her own original art as templates to mass produce prints, embroideries, and appliques.
While maintaining her career as a Designer, which required international travel and long corporate hours, Lisa also had a very rewarding family life. By 2002, she and her husband were blessed with three wonderful children. The tough decision was made to hang up the career to focus more time on Mommy Mode. She still craved a creative outlet and not finding the right art pieces for their home and kids’ rooms, she painted her own. As soon as family and friend saw what she was capable of painting, her commissioned art gained demand. Twenty years later commissioned art is still Lisa’s absolute favorite. The ability to interpret and produce what a client wants and seeing their satisfaction with the finished product offers so much reward.
After following her husband and his career to five different States where Lisa always found ways to apply her creative trade, she is happy to now call Montgomery, Texas her home for the last 10 years. Lisa has designed and painted everything from murals, to signs, banners, T-shirts, shoes, business cards, mascots, ornaments, gifts and even a few of the goats seen around downtown Montgomery. Her artwork has sold in multiple boutiques across many different states. She thoroughly enjoyed helping teach art to children and awarded “Volunteer of the Year”. She has been a volunteer art judge at the local Montgomery County Fair and has donated multiple paintings to raise funds for St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the MHS football program. When she is not painting, Lisa reads, gardens, spends time with friends, hangs out on Lake Conroe, and stays fit with daily dog walks and plays tennis in Walden on the A3 Orange team.
Lisa Koberg’s art is always evolving. She constantly experiments with new techniques and mediums to put her own style and spin on her works of art. She mainly works in acrylics but is considered a mixed media artist. Her love of color, texture and sparkle shine through in her art pieces. New to the gallery scene, she is incredibly excited to have won the Aspiring Artist Showcase at Montgomery’s Lone Star Art Gallery and recently had her first exhibit. She now has a new place to display her love of art.
